Funeral Services for Franklin Eugene Lee, 73, of Portales, New Mexico will be held at 2:30PM, Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel, with Scott Reeves officiating, Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery.Eugene was born on June 17, 1943, to Frank J and Doris (Green) Lee in Portales, New Mexico. He married Patricia Ann Page on November 5, 1965, at the First United Methodist Church in Portales, New Mexico. Eugene died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas.Eugene as a child was diagnosed with polio and was told he would never be able to walk, but with a strong heart and determination he proved he would walk, Beginning in 1967 he was employed by C&S, Inc., as a truck driver and office manager. Eugene, in 2001, began employment with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in the Floyd area. Eugene loved being outdoors and driving his tractor on the farm. His passion was his Chile Garden, where he raised and sold chile's, having people come from all over New Mexico and Texas to purchase the chile's.Eugene is survived by his wife Pat; one son Kyle (Kaye) Lee of Springfield, Missouri; one grandson, Quade Lee; two brothers, Max (Betty) Lee and Harvey (Nancy) Lee both of Slaton, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Donnie Lee.Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. 575-356-4455, wheelermortuary.net
