Frank D. Peterson RACINE-Frank David Peterson, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Harmony Living Center. Frank was born on January 16, 1921 to Frank D. Ferdibar and Margaret Baess Ferdibar in Gary, Indiana. Frank was later adopted by Albert Bert and Margaret Peterson on October 6, 1937. On August 26, 1941 Frank was united in marriage to Carol E. Chapel in Portage, WI. Frank and Carol made Caledonia their home until Carol passed away in 1986. Frank was employed as a truck driver and worked at the Racine Police Dept. He drove truck for Nielsen Iron Works for many years before retiring in the early 80s. Frank dedicated eight years to serving the citizens of Caledonia as a Town Supervisor on the Town Board. Frank took pride in his accomplishments while on the Town Board and was recognized by the citizens by being re-elected without putting up a single campaign sign. When Frank left the Town Board, he was the oldest and longest serving Supervisor. Frank also worked part-time for his nephew, Lee Sucharda at Design North in Caledonia as a delivery driver and at the Metro Milwaukee Auto Auction as a driver and kitchen assistant. Frank had a deep seated love for law enforcement and the people who serve so he volunteered to work at the Racine County Sheriffs Sub-station by I-94 in the reception area. Frank continued to make friends at each place he worked or volunteered. Frank and his fiancée, Helen Reed, loved to travel. Their most enjoyable trip was to Hawaii. Frank and Helen remained together until the effects of old age caught up to Frank and he moved to Harmony Living Center. Frank is survived by his fiancée, Helen Reed, daughter-in-law, Leigh Peterson, granddaughter, Bethany, closest friend, Bob Stauss, as well as other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife Carol, son James, and daughter Jill. Franks wishes upon passing were simple. He desired a direct cremation with his ashes to be placed with his wife and daughter in the family crypt at Graceland Cemetery. A brief ceremony will take place on Friday, February 14 at 11:30 am at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials for Frank may be made to the Village of Caledonia Park and Recreation program as Franks passion in life was to enjoy the outdoors, especially fishing. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Richard Clark, Franks physician, and his staff at the Wheaton Franciscan Clinic for their compassionate care of Frank until his passing.
