YORK Francine O. Forde-Rice transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Francine was born on February 25, 1966, to Winston C. Forde and Hetty Granumm of St. Michael, Barbados. She migrated to Cambridge, Mass. at the age of 9 years old, where she attended Webster Elementary School and graduated Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in 1985. Francine worked at Sears Department Store in Porter Sq. as a sales clerk in Cambridge. After graduating high school, she went on to attend the University of Arizona where she studied fashion. Francine accepted Christ at an early age at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church where she attended Sunday School and participated in Young Peoples Fellowship. On June 6, 1998, Francine married Kevin D. Rice in Seattle, Wash. while he was serving in the United States Navy. Being a military wife, she followed her husband of 17 years of marriage to various duty stations until finally making York, Pa. their home. Amongst her many past times, Francine enjoyed shopping, bowling, modeling, exploring culinary arts and was an avid traveler. While residing in Pennsylvania, she worked at Members First Credit Union as an Account Specialist for seven years, receiving the Employee of the Year Award for several years. She became a devoted member of Family Life Ministry International Church of York. As well as a loving wife, she was also a mother to Nancy Ann Clay and Lamonte Rice. In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin D. Rice; her mother-in-law, Helen Jones; three sisters, Clare James, Laurinda Smith and Felicia Forde; two brothers, Ian Forde and Ivan Forde; two sisters-in-law, Vanessa Jones and Chanelle Payne; three brothers-in-law, Ivan Maurice Jones, Sylvester Jones and Cory Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends from Barbados, Bahamas, United States and Canada. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Family Life Ministries Intl., 617 W. Market St., York, PA 17401, with her pastors, Dr. Juanita Burden officiating and Dr. Wendell B. Burden giving the eulogy. Additional services will be held in Cambridge, Mass.
