Meyer, Floyd L.Floyd L. Meyer, 97, Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017. He was born on November 13, 1919, in Gresham, WI, to the late William and Ludewike (Hinkle) Meyer. He was the 11th of 12 children. Floyd was raised in Shawano, graduating from Shawano High School. He received a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.Floyd proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during
WWII from June 1942 to January 1946. He was awarded multiple commendations, including the
Bronze Star, for his distinguished service. Floyd was also a leader in the world of insurance. He was a Certified Life Underwriter and headed his own insurance agency in Green Bay. He was very dedicated to the Shrine organization, serving as Tripoli's Potentate for the year 1981. He also served as the very first Potentate for the Beja Temple in 1986 in Green Bay. Floyd was a born salesperson, very social and always had a story to tell with a twinkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.Floyd is survived by his daughters, Barbara Avery, California, and Linda (Dennis) Higgins, Ashwaubenon; 2 grandchildren, Daniel (Michelle) Higgins, Neenah, and Tracy (Mike) Zuege, Little Chute; 4 great-grandchildren, Luke and Erin Higgins and Ashley and Anna Zuege; and many other family and friends.In addition to his parents, Floyd is preceded in death by all 11 of his siblings.Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Tromble officiating.
