Flora Madden Phillips was born May 24, 1919, in Davenport, Iowa. She laid to rest in Jesus Christs' arms on April 23, 2018, at the age of 99 years old.

Ms. Flora received Christ at a very young age at Bethel AME Church in Davenport, Iowa. She served on the deaconess board, as a Trustee, and Secretary of Sunday School until her health kept her from actively holding these position.  She married R.D. Phillips, Sr in 1935 and from this union were born four children. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Annie Madden; sons John D. and R.D. Phillips, Jr.; sisters, Bertha and Priscilla Madden.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Annie Flora Smith of Muscle Shoals, AL; son, Willie L. Phillips of Muscle Shoals, AL; and a brother Tilton Phillips, Davenport, Iowa. She had 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
