Dr. FREDERICK L. KING, PhD
Of Conway, SC passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016.
Dr. King was born on July 7, 1937 in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Philip J. King, Sr. who was born in Greer, SC and the late Dorothy Bevans King who was born in Altoona, PA. He graduated from Central State University in Ohio and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Dr. King served in the US Military for 36 years, retiring as a LT. Colonel and also retired from the National Security Agency. He traveled extensively for his work and for pleasure and visited all 50 states and 20 foreign countries. In 1997, after his career in Washington, DC he retired to Myrtle Beach, SC, where he continued his hobby of playing golf.
Dr. King is survived by his wife, Ruth of Conway; son, Frederick L. King, Jr. of Dallas, TX; daughters, Patricia Meridy of Cincinnati, OH Sherri King and Shelli King, both of Lawrenceville, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Martin of Wyncote, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. King will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church.
