Esther Shortridge Williams, 98 passed away July 25, 2013, at Royal Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Ellensburg, Washington. She was born on July 7, 1915 in Braddock, North Dakota, to Chris and Julia Wallawine, immigrants from Romainia.She began working at the age 17. She married Earl Shortridge on Jan. 4, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1970, after 33 years of marriage. In April of 1982, she then married Dick Williams. He passed away after they had been married for 10 years.In 2008, she moved to HearthStone Cottage here in Ellensburg to be near her nephew Dean Schwartz and his wife Waleeta. She enjoyed her little apartment with flowers on the porch and being able to still do cooking in her little kitchen, and the friendship of the other residents and activities offered there. After breaking a hip, she then moved to Royal Vista where kind and loving staff cared for her there until her death.She will be remembered as being a hard worker and for her quick wit and her wonderful humor. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters, as well as nephews Dean (Waleeta) Schwartz, Ellensburg; and Elmer Schwartz, Seattle; as well as many grand-nieces and nephews.
