Ernest P. "Ernie" Eby, age 73, of Oscoda died on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at his home. He was born on Dec. 22, 1941 in Monroe to the late Russell and Alice Eby (nee Metz). Ernie grew up in Monroe and later joined the United State Air Force. His career spanned over 21 years and he retired as a senior master sergeant in 1971. Ernie loved the outdoors and especially fishing, hunting, camping, riding motorcycles and traveling. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oscoda. Ernie is survived by his wife, Phyllis, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1978 in Muncie, Ind.; four children, Jimmy (Vanessa) Eby of California, Tyna (Bill) Turner of Alabama, Gary Snodgress, Jr. of Canton and Shawn (Annette) Snodgress of Florida; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother, Dave; four sisters, Jen, Mary, Linda and Leah; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by two grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2 from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. Rev. Timothy Azzam will officiate.
