Emilia "Emma" Ortega Jaramillo a lifetime resident of Anton Chico passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Anton Chico.She was born on Oct. 5, 1936 in Anton Chico to Emilio Ortega and Bersabe Ortiz Ortega.She was united in marriage with Jose Ufrendo Jaramillo at the San Jose Church in Anton Chico on March 30, 1955.She operated a business in her home for many years and retired. She worked as a cook in the Anton Chico Schools for a few years and worked for the cotton fields in Texas, she was a hard worker and dedicated to her family. She loved gardening and took pride in her flower garden. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was a proud supporter of the St. Jude Hospital, The Paralyzed Veterans Association and The Humane Society. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and arts and crafts. She had a big heart and helped anyone in need.She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Ufrendo Jaramillo; a twin daughter; son, Margarito A. Jaramillo; daughter, Patsy A. Sanchez; son, Benjamin C. Jaramillo; mother, Bersabela Ortiz Ortega; father, Emilio Ortega; brother, Nicholas Ortega, and four nephews.She is survived by her children, Ufrendo Jaramillo, Jr., and wife, Josephine, of Anton Chico, Bernadina Padilla of Las Vegas, Raphael Jaramillo and wife, Melissa, of Las Vegas, Becky Jaramillo and Felix Saiz of Anton Chico; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Finch and husband, Pete, of South Carolina, Teresa Jaramillo and husband, Pascuel, of Clovis, Molly Bell and husband, Leroy, of Tulsa, Okla., Helen Zoller of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Services are scheduled for Jose U., Emma Jaramillo, and Benjamin C. Jaramillo with the rosary to be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday immediately followed with the Funeral Mass at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico with Father Antonio Mondragon as celebrant. Interment of their cremains will follow at Sangre de Cristo Cemetery in Upper Anton Chico with the following serving as urn bearers: Cody Jaramillo, Felix Calderon and Emily Jaramillo.
