Goimarac, Emil 91 passed away on May 5, 2017. Emil Goimarac was born on May 1, 1926 in Monessen Pennsylvania. He graduated from Monessen Elementary School and High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. After the war, he graduated from Millersville State College in Pennsylvania with a BS degree. Later, while a school administrator in Colorado he received his MS degree from the University of New Mexico. Emil was Principal of the Manassa Elementary School in Colorado for six years. He was also Superintendent of Schools for the Sanford Colorado School District. He then moved to Glendale Arizona and taught for one year in the eighth grade at the Cartwright Elementary School in Phoenix. He then became Assistant Principal at the Glen L. Downs Elementary School in Maryvale. He was the first Principal of the newly established Frank Borman Jr. High School in Maryvale. Emil served in various community and educational, associations including Post Commander of the American Legion of Foreign Wars, President of the Conejos County Teachers Association, as well as numerous PTA's and service clubs. Emil became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 1, 1961. He served in numerous capacities including Sunday school teacher, scout leader, ward clerk, and Councilor in a bishopric. He and his wife Thora were full-time missionaries in Belgrade Serbia for 18 months. Emil was preceded in death by his wife Thora and is survived by his five children, Sandra Lewellen, Phoenix, Ron Goimarac, Aztec New Mexico, Deborah Lamb, Phoenix, Michael Goimarac, Sedona and Tad Goimarac, Hurricane, Utah. He also leaves behind a large posterity of 24 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at the LDS Church in Anthem Arizona at 10:00 on Saturday May 13th.
