Elsie Pearl TittsworthElsie Pearl Tittsworth, 94, of Yakima passed away on August 15, 2015 at Cottage in the Meadow. She was born on October 6, 1920 to David Lloyd and Georgia Lee Tittsworth. She was born and raised in Ellensburg. She went through the Ellensburg school system, starting first at Wooldale School for primary school, then Morgan Jr. High School, and Ellensburg High School graduating in 1938. She earned her teaching degree from what is now Central Washington University, graduating in 1942. She started her teaching career in Buena, Washington teaching primary school. She then moved to Toppenish to teach Jr. High for a few years, then to Toppenish High School to teach typing and shorthand until her retirement in 1973 at the age of 53. Elsie lived in Toppenish for most of her life with her best friend Maryann Haba (who preceded her in death in 2012). Elsie and Maryann had a very good life together. Elsie and Maryann moved to Yakima after a few years of retirement, where they both made their home for the last 24 years. She was a member of First United Methodist of Ellensburg, and an active member of Eastern Star. Elsie lived a long and happy life and retirement. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, canning, cooking, taking care of her home, going to Legends Casino, and talking with friends on the phone, which she was very good at! Elsie is preceded in death by her father and mother David and Georgia (Bradshaw)Tittsworth, and a brother George David Tittsworth (February 14, 1919-1974), and nephew Les Sorenson.She is survived by niece Sonja Corey (Tittsworth) of Ocean Park, WA; great nieces Jennifer and Rebecca Corey also of Ocean Park; various other great nieces and nephews, as well as 5 great great nieces; nephews Gene Sorenson of Vancouver, WA, Jerry (Ann) Sorenson of Monroe, WA, and Roger (Carol) Sorenson of Everett, WA; and niece-in-law Gwen Sorenson. The family would especially like to thank Joy Holden and Sandy Reeve. Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at Steward and Williams Tribute Center, Ellensburg. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery.
