Services for E.V. Hamby, 87, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Laird's Funeral Chapel in Nacogdoches. Officiating by Bro. Pat Kelly, Bro. Mark Clark, and Bro. Terry Hodge. Graveside and burial service will be at the Eden Cemetery of Eden Community, Nacogdoches, Texas, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. E.V. Hamby passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016, at home peacefully, with his family by his side. He was born on October 22, 1929, in Eden Community, Nacogdoches County, Tx- to the late Frank Harvey Hamby and the late Cynthia Smith Hamby both of the Eden Community. His stepmother the late Ethel Rhodes Williams Hamby; Brothers: Harvey Hamby and wife, Patricia, Larry Hamby and wife, Veronica, Frankie Hamby and wife, Mona: Sister, Rebanette Hamby all of Nacogdoches, Texas. Corporal Ellis V. Hamby served in the United States Army 1952-1954 overseas in France, he then served from 1954 to 1960 SP4-ER54 078134, USAR, and was honorably discharged in 1960. He started and owned his company, Hamby Construction from 1960 to 2008. He built homes, business offices, and many of our local churches ending with First Christian Church. He also built and owned the Nacogdoches County Livestock Exchange from 1975-1988. Was a member of Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce for small business and was president of board of trustees of Eden Cemetery for 35 years. He married the late Marjorie Oneta Clevenger of Eden Community, May 1, 1947. Their children were, daughter the late Cynthia Kaye Hamby Massey and husband, Chris, Son, Terry L. Hamby and wife, Helen, both of Nacogdoches, Tx. He married Hazel Collins Waddell Hamby, February 28, 1998. His stepchildren are Hank Waddell and Karen of Austin, Texas, Holly Waddell and Jeff of Houston, Texas, Hunt Waddell and Susan of Fairfax, Virginia. E.V. and Hazel had 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews, and survived by his sister in law Theda Louise Johnson and brother in law, Delton Ray Tindall. Special thanks to his caregivers Shirley Thorn of Helping Hands and staff, Dorothy, Ty, Sandra, and Michelle. The Hospice of East Texas staff, Chaplin Tim, Nurses, Robin, Chevon, Hr. Anna, Dee, and Pam. Very special thank you to his granddaughter Angie Pitts, for the comfort and care she gave to her Poppa in his time of need. Pallbearers are: Cody Hamby, Marshall Ellison, Cam Massey, Chaye Massey, Hank Waddell, and Hunt Waddell. Honorary pallbearers are Family, veterans: Corpl. Earl Spurgeon 2nd Infantry Division, James Arriola Navy Seaman Class 1. Sgt E-5 Jerry Clevenger, Delton Ray Tindall US Navy Seaman 3 years, Sgt. Joseph Carl Schulker, US Marine Corps, veteran to Panama Operation, Just Cause, Desert Storm, Desert shield. Firemen: James Harvey Hamby - city, Larry Allen Hamby - city, Frankie Junior Hamby - city, Chad Hamby - city, Cody Wayne Hamby â€" VF/Loco Valley. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at Laird Funeral Home.
