Elizabeth (Beth) Grochowski, age 76, of Oscoda, formerly of Bay City, passed away on March 5, 2014. She was born on Feb. 25, 1938 in Bay City to the late Stanley and Marie Grochowski (nee Kaczmarek). Beth graduated from Bay City Junior College and Central Michigan University. She taught elementary education in Bay City and Oscoda for 35 years and retired in 1995. During summer vacation she worked as a medical laboratory technician in various hospitals and clinics in Bay City. Beth belonged to several organizations such as, NEA, MEA, ASCPA, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, AARP, Iosco County Humane Society, Legal Defense Fund and Lake Huron Chapter of the MEA. Her interests included reading, traveling to see her grandchildren, as well as being a devoted cat person. Beth is survived by an adopted son, Randal; three grandchildren, Emily, Rachel and William of Virginia and Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. Among the other survivors are many very good friends who provided her with care and love. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Bissonette; and brother, Donald Grochowski. Her family will welcome friends on Friday, March 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Oscoda Buresh Funeral Home and a funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. (in-state at 10 a.m.) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda.
