ANGOLA — Elija Colt Swager, 18, passed away March 1, 2014, in Muncie, Ind. He was born on March 21, 1995, in Angola to Troy Swager and Kristina (Towers) Swager. He was a freshman at Ball State University majoring in accounting but planned on switching into an area that would allow him to work with children and hoping he might be able to coach. Elija worked part-time for his Uncle Shane and Aunt Chanda at the Bull Pen Café in Fremont. He graduated from Angola High School in 2013. He was active in AHS football, Angola Rugby Club, was the TCAC wrestling champion in 2009. Elija's greatest heroes and mentors were his father and his grandfathers, but he also included coaches Luke Amstutz, Todd Herndon, Kent Oberlin, Roger Roddy and Russ Tingley. His favorite football team was the Minnesota Vikings and he loved fishing, hunting, reading but most of all spending time with his family and all his friends including his best friend since pre-school Jacob Lepley. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Troy and Lori (Boren) Swager of Angola; his mother, Kristina (Towers) Swager of Angola; his siblings, Cheyenne Swager, Sara Pabriaga, Mathew Bryan and Emili Bryan; his grandparents, Terry and Ragena Swager of Angola, Gary and Norma Towers of Angola and Jerry and Sandi Boren of New Castle; his great-grandfather Rollin Miller Sr. of Coldwater, MI and his niece and nephews Karli Christine Renee Bryan, Jace Tyler and Jax Cooper Workman. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Levi Travis Swager who passed away at birth; his sister, Karli Bryan in 2006; and his great-grandparents, Eugene and Pansy Drake and Charles and Maude Swager. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Fairview Missionary Church with Pastor Joel Greenwood officiating. Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
