Eileen Janice Larson HenryNovember 23, 1927 - April 5, 2016Eileen Janice Larson Henry, 88, of Caldwell, passed away on April 5, 2016. She was born on November 23, 1927, in Castana, Iowa, to Floy Lella York and Charlie Larson. She was raised on a farm with her four brothers and sisters and went to a one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade. She graduated from Castana High School in 1945, where she was the valedictorian. She continued her education at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where she went to nursing school and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1948.While she was at Morningside College, she met a young man named Boyd Henry. Eileen and Boyd were married on August 30, 1948. They were the first couple to be married in the small church at Ticonic, Iowa.Eileen and Boyd moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where Eileen was the school nurse and Boyd taught math at Parsons College. While they were in Fairfield, they had their first three children, Lois Eileen, Douglas Boyd and Ruth Elaine.They moved to West Des Moines, Iowa, in 1955, and then to Caldwell, Idaho, in 1957, where Boyd taught math at The College of Idaho. They had two more children, Carol Marie and Beth Ellen.Eileen worked as a full-time homemaker. She was involved in her children's activities as a Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School teacher. She was a very active participant in the United Methodist Church and in 2005 received the Best Everyday United Methodist Award. She was an avid quilter and won several awards, including "Best of Show". She loved growing plants, and had a truly green thumb. Plants thrived and multiplied under her care. Most of all, Eileen enjoyed being with her family. Many of her grandchildren were fortunate enough to be able to spend their day or after-school time with Grandma Henry.Eileen is survived by her five children, Lois Buck of Emmett, ID; Doug Henry of Walla Walla, WA; Ruth and Wes Whitley of Greenleaf, ID; Carol and Dan Beaubien of Ontario, OR; Beth and Bill O'Meara of Greenleaf, ID; two sisters, Evelyn and John St. Peter of Sioux City, Iowa, and Melva Wanamaker of Onawa, Iowa; sister-in-law Barbara Larson of Castana, Iowa; brother Melvin and Joyce Larson of Upsala, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Gordon and Audrey Henry of Newberry, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren and their spouses, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyd; her brother, Darrell Larson; and her granddaughter, Heidi O'Meara.A viewing will be held at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 18,2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 824 E.
