Symoniak, Edwin John Edwin John Symoniak, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Brookdale Castleton. He was born on May 15, 1930 to Martin and Frances (Boruta) Symoniak in Cicero, IL. Edwin proudly served as a jet mechanic and
fire fighter in the
US Navy from 1951 to 1954. Following that, he worked as service manager for May Electric Appliance in Aurora, IL for 13 years. After that, he was assistant manager, manager, and buyer for several companies before starting his own company, Drapery Showcase, in Greenfield, WI, which he owned for 25 years having multiple stores, before retiring in 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman and a huge Green Bay Packers fan. He was a former member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, IN, St. Alphonsus in Greendale, WI, and Holy Angels in Aurora, IL. Edwin is survived by his daughter Karen (Mike) McLeish; sons, Dan (Beth) Symoniak and Tom (Donna) Symoniak; ten grandchildren, Mike (Brynne) McLeish, Jennifer (Richie) Dalton, Christine (Daniel) Hord, Stephanie (Matt) James, Nicki (Clint) Knollenberg, Katie Symoniak, Jackie (Kelly) Kuzminski, Jonathon (Heather) Symoniak, Liz Ann (Matt) Harwood and Rachel (Dan) Falkowski; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra (Will) Giovannoni and Sharon Breden, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dolores (May) Symoniak, in 2005; son, Gary Symoniak; and brother, Martin Symoniak Jr. Services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at St John Vianney Catholic Church, 15176 Blessed Mother Blvd., Fishers, IN, at 12:30 pm with visitation from 11:00 until time of service. Rev. Brian Dudzinski will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.
