Schroeder, Edwerda "Eddie"Edwerda "Eddie" C. Schroeder, 95, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Peabody Manor in Appleton. She was born on September 8, 1921 in Appleton, WI to Edward and Grace (Olson) Abel. She married Armin Schroeder on September 2, 1944.Edwerda graduated Magna Cum Laude from UW-Oshkosh (then known as Oshkosh State Teachers College) in 1942 and began her elementary teaching career in Appleton where she taught for 42 years before retiring in 1985.In 1967, she received her MA degree in Library Science and then left the classroom to become an elementary school librarian for the Appleton Public School District.Eddie was very musical; sang for many years in the Presbyterian Church choir, played piano and was a violinist in the Fox Valley Symphony for several years. In retirement, she and Armin moved to the country where they owned a 40 acre tree farm. Eddie loved knitting on their deck and watching the wildlife. After moving to the Heritage, she was always very busy sewing, knitting, and volunteering with a local elementary school.Edwerda was preceded in death by her husband Armin in September of 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Judith L. (Jack C.) Rusch of Onalaska, WI; two grandchildren: Matthew (Wendi) Rusch and Erika (Wade) Olson; seven great-grandchildren: Denali, Kai, Kian and Kaedin Rusch; Mia, Miles, and Samantha Olson; two sisters: Shirlee (Frank) Procopio and Margaret (Earl) Garber as well as several nieces and nephews.Westgor Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements and both Eddie and Armin will be interred in the Columbarium at the First Presbyterian Church of Neenah. There will be no memorial service.A heartfelt thank you goes out to ALL of the Birch Cottage staff; especially CNA Kathy for her kindness and insight regarding dementia, Hospice RN Robin who was Eddie's Hospice nurse and helped everyone understand the progression of dementia; special friend, Angela, who offered her warmth and gentleness several times a week. We can't possibly name everyone, but the entire Heritage, Rosewood, Birch Cottage, and Hospice staff will live on in our hearts for years to come because of your caring ways. Everyone should be as blessed as Judy and Jack to have such a warm and caring extended family.
