Edward S. Forno, Sr.HockessinEdward S. Forno, Sr. of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully on February 21 surrounded by his loving family after a long struggle with heart disease and other chronic illnesses. Eddie was born on July 21, 1929 in Hockessin, DE and attended Conrad High School. He married the love of his life, Anna R. Daddezio, who predeceased him in February 2016. Together they enjoyed 62 loving & faith filled years of marriage as best friends and companions. Ed was employed by the Huber Baking Company (Schmidt's), as a driver-salesman for more than 30 years. Ed enjoyed coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for New Castle County during the 1960's. He was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, and of the St. Mark's High School Father's Club. Ed was a Navy Veteran of the
Korean War, serving on the ammunition ship the USS Amphion during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of the Hockessin Fire Company, a member of the
VFW, the
Moose Club and the American Legion. His hobbies included spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching the Phillies, his annual trout fishing trips, golfing and traveling. He especially enjoyed trips to watch Phillies Spring Training, the beach and visiting family in Italy & California. Ed never missed a chance to cheer on and support his grandchildren, whether it was attending their sporting events, school functions, trips to the Delaware beaches or Sunday breakfasts. Ed is survived by his sister Mary Pupillo, his son, Steve Forno (Linda), his daughter, Michelle Beale (Mike); his grandchildren, Alyssa & Nick Forno, Morgan Gordon (Billy), and Mitchell Beale. In addition to Anna, Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Julia Forno; and his brother, John. Ed's family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses, aides and staff at Brookdale Hockessin in addition to caring friends for all of the prayers, visits and well wishes. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington DE, 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
