Mr. Edward Kouhi, age 88 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 23, 2017.Edward was born on March 19, 1928 in Raith, Ontario where he was also educated. Ed worked for 38 years for Canadian National Railway as a Telegraph Operator and Train Dispatcher, until retirement in 1983. He married Pearl Fuchek on July 19, 1950 and they enjoyed many happy years at their camp in Shebandowan and Whiteshell, Manitoba. He loved the outdoors, fishing, curling, travelling and cross country skiing. Ed was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Rail Canada Traffic Controllers Union. He was also a former member of the Port Arthur Curling Club and F.A. Gary Curling Club in Winnipeg.He is survived by his sister Ruth Olafson of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Betty Kouhi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife Pearl (2015) as well as his parents Oskar and Hulda Kouhi; brothers Alex, George, Walter, Kauko and Leo; sisters Aili Heikkinen and Irene Tinsley and his in-laws Stephen and Ida Fuchek.A graveside service for the late Mr. Edward Kouhi will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00am in Riverside Cemetery, with family and friends gathering at the main gates. A reception will follow in the Christ Lutheran Church Hall. Should friends so desire, donations to the Memorial Fund at Christ Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated.Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
