Edward F. (Barney) McClaskey passed away on Monday January 11, 2016 at Yuma Nursing Center, Yuma, Arizona.He was born on February 7, 1923 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and Friend. He served in the U.S. Army during
WWII in the (Pacific Theater), Jungles of New Guinea and was awarded the
Purple Heart.Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Boyd McClaskey and Beatrice McClaskey, his wife Dortha (Dottie) McClaskey, sister, Lillian Moss, son, Wm. Wayne McClaskey, and daughter in law Jennifer ("Goober") McClaskey. He is survived by his sister, Mae Sundstrum of New Jersey, daughters, Janis McClaskey Christy of Vineland, New Jersey, Eunice McClaskey Smith and Beatrice McClaskey of Yuma, Arizona; sons Samuel (Brenda) McClaskey and Edward F. McClaskey Jr. aka "Goober", all of Yuma. Edward Boyd (Karen) McClaskey of the UK and Alex (Beckey) McClaskey of Sweet Home, Oregon, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. January 19th, 2016 at the Yuma Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1681 S. 6th Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the church; Pastor George Boundey officiating. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn. Johnson's Mortuary is handling arrangements. There will be a celebration of Barney's life back at the Church following the service.
