Snoeyenbos, Edward C.Edward C. Snoeyenbos passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at age 73 at Mountain Terrace Senior Living, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Ed was born on April 9, 1943 in Menomonie, WI to Milton and Ella (McGillis) Snoeyenbos. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Cedar Falls, where Ed developed his cheerful, spirited personality. The family later moved to Eau Claire, and Ed attended Memorial High School, graduating in 1961. In high school, Ed played the trumpet and guitar in the school band. He also became adept at basketball, dancing, canoeing and boxing, a sport at which he excelled at. Always interested in business, Ed graduated from UW Whitewater with a BA in Business and took graduate courses at UW Eau Claire. During his high school and college summers he worked at Robert Wholesale Grocery Company, where his father was vice-president. After college he worked at Menards and then moved to Wausau where he founded Carpet City. In 1963, Ed married Shirley Prestebak, the love of his life, and had two sons, Anthony and Perry. Ed was very much a family man and loved traveling across the country in his RV with Shirley and his grandchildren. In 1991, Ed decided to open his own RV business, Wausau RV, which he owned and operated for four years. Ed and Shirley also owned a home in Florida where they loved to stay and entertain friends and family members along with many new friends that they had met while living there. Volunteer work was very important to Ed. He volunteered at the Kiwanis Club and at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, to name a few. Ed was a generous, fun loving and community oriented man who frequently donated to educational causes. He also enjoyed long walks in the woods, spending time at the hunting shack and trying new things, such as obtaining his private pilot's license. Among all, Ed was a loving husband, a wonderful dad, an amazing grandfather and a loyal friend. Survivors include, two sons, Anthony Snoeyenbos and Perry (Denise) Snoeyenbos, of Wausau; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Sydney and Sarah Snoeyenbos; one brother, Milton (Pegeen) Snoeyenbos, Bruce, Wisconsin; special niece, Jean Prestebak and six nephews; and his loyal dogs, Kenya and Jeanie. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Shirley. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Bruce Lamont and Rev. Jim Wiebel will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
