Eduardo Louis SandovalDaly City, CAEdward (Eduardo) Louis Sandoval, 77, of Daly City, CA, died at his home on April 23, 2017, of heart failure. Eddie was born on December 20, 1939 in Moorpark, CA, to Mercedes and Lino Sandoval. He attended Santa Clara Grammar and Santa Clara High School in Oxnard, CA, St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA, the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL, and Hastings School of Law in San Francisco, CAAfter graduate work at University of Chicago, he moved to New York and worked in the advertising business. Subsequently he moved to Texas working briefly for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In the mid 1960's he relocated to San Francisco and worked as a community organizer in the Mission District as part of LBJ's Great Society's anti-poverty program. By 1967, he returned to school and received his law degree in 1970.Eduardo always had an interest in politics and became associated with the Mexican-American Political Association (MAPA) in the late 1960's.He eventually became statewide President of MAPA from 1977-1981, where he worked closely with then Governor Jerry Brown to further Mexican-American civil rights. He also worked with Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers. After retiring from public politics, Eduardo continued to fight for the everyday rights of all people through his law practice, where he worked until the day he died.His personal passions included the San Francisco Giants and the Boston Celtics, Latin music especially the band Sonora Santanera, and the Roman Catholic Church and the readings of St. Thomas Aquinas.Eduardo is survived by his son Tacho, his former wife Judith, his mother Mercedes A. Sandoval, and his six siblings: Mary Ann Christ, Bill Sandoval, Christina Rothrock, George J. Sandoval, Joseph Sandoval, and Michelle Sandoval, as well as many cousins and relatives in Ventura County.Rosary and prayers will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 8, at Reardon Funeral Home in Oxnard. Viewing of the deceased will be held at 6:30 pm. His life and death will be celebrated with a funeral mass on May 9 at 10:00 am Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Internment will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery. After the burial a reception will be held at Rumfish & Vino Restaurant in Ventura from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
