Edna WerneburgPRINCEVILLE - Edna R. Werneburg, 76, of Princeville passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, at 11:41 a.m. at UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria. Edna was born on December 24, 1939, in Perry, Iowa, to Charles E. Rhodes and Doris Martin Rhodes. She married William C. Werneburg on July 30, 1971, in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2004. Surviving are one daughter, Renee (Todd) Frisby of Princeville; three sons, Bill (Marty) Werneburg of Texas, Scott (Candy) Werneburg of Chillicothe and Todd (Jody) Werneburg of Hanna City; three sisters, Joyce Vanterghem and Doris Bunn of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Billie Jo (John) Henry of Deep River, Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Edna was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don Rhodes.Edna was one of the first female firefighters for the Dunlap Fire Department and was owner of Edna's Bar and Grill in Princeville. She loved Friday night bingo at the Chillicothe VFW, the Chicago Bears and Cubs, playing cards and listening to Elvis Presley. She was a giving person who was always willing to help a stranger, especially those in need. Cremation has been accorded. A gathering to celebrate Edna's life will be hosted by her family at Troutman Park in Princeville on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m. A burial of her ashes will be held at a later date at Princeville Cemetery.
