Edith Marlowe ReelSugar Hill - Mrs. Edith Marlowe Reel, age 87, a lifelong resident of the Sugar Hill community, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Rosehill Retirement Center following several months of declining health. Edith was born on December 26, 1928 to the late Lant Marlowe and Mina Frazee Marlowe. She was retired as a cloth grader at Marion Manufacturing Company where she served devotedly for over 30 years. Edith was a faithful member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church. A kind and gentle woman, she deeply loved her family and church family and especially loved children. Her interest in genealogy led her to research her own family's lineage and she even made a book of her family history and presented copies of it to her cousins. Her husband of 61 years, Horace Reel, and her sister, and her husband, Ruth and James Shuford, preceded her in death.Edith leaves behind her dear sister, Sara Vallini of Marion; her cousins on her father's side, Katherine Gallion and husband Roger of West Marion, Glenn "Shorty" Robbins and wife Barbara of Montford Cove and Hazel Busbin and husband Jack of Ft. Mill, SC; her cousins on her mother's side, Keith Frazee and wife Sharon of Morehead City, Brooks Frazee and wife Glenda of Fayetteville, Wallace Frazee and wife Melinda of Fayetteville, Brian Frazee of Fayetteville, and Allen Frazee and wife Linda of Albemarle; and nephews, Billy Mack Reel of North Cove and Robert Glenn Reel of Marion.A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Horace at McDowell Memorial Park.
