E. Ray RinehartMarion: E. Ray Rinehart, age 102 of Marion died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at home. He was born on March 11, 1915 to the late Alice Rinehart Dosson in Cadiz, Ohio.Ray taught school in eastern Ohio for 4 years and was a railroad engineer for 36 years for the Erie Railroad. He graduated from Perrysville High School in 1932. He attended Ohio University where he was a member of the wrestling team. He also learned to fly while attending college. Ray served in the US Army during WW II and worked in the Quartermaster Corps.Ray was a member of the Marion Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He had a lifelong love for farming. Ray enjoyed square dancing, horseshoes, and corn hole.On January 15, 2010, Ray married Jean (Chandler) Pruitt in Barnesville, Ohio, who survives in Marion.In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by a step-son, Brian Earl of South Carolina, a step-daughter, Laura Earl of Crestline, and a granddaughter, Colby Earl of South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jim & Veronica Elkins and Curtis & Marisa Tuggle & family.In addition to his mother, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife Esther (Faust) Rinehart; sisters: Eleanor Shawver, Madelene Quinn, Dolly Rose, Elizabeth Poillucci; and a brother, Eugene Dosson.Friends may call on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Thursday November 9, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Lawrence Jarka officiating.
