Douglas George Rosenkrance, 79 of Mackay, Idaho peacefully passed away on October 9, 2016 while in Montana visiting family.Doug was born on May 15, 1937 in Mackay, Idaho, to Francis and Lola Rosenkrance. He grew up in Mackay working hard up and down the valley and attended Mackay Schools where he excelled in basketball and football. Doug also met the love of his life while attending school in Mackay and married his high school sweetheart Dolores Ivie on November 27, 1957.Doug served in the National Guard and he and Dolores later settled in Mackay to raise their family. Doug always had a special love and talent when it came to horses. He loved raising, breaking, training, and riding horses but his great love was horse racing. You could find him at every track in Idaho and many tracks out of state. He was a jockey, trained and owned several race horses while running his farm and ranch in Mackay.Doug loved spending time with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband and cherished his family. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He spent hours enjoying watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in sports and other activities never missing an event.Doug collected friendships and cherished each and every one of his friends, young and old near and far. You can be anywhere and run into one of Doug's friends. He always made time to see his friends and family and tell a story or two. Doug made everything fun and will be missed dearly.Doug is survived by his wife Dolores Rosenkrance of Mackay, his four sons Shane (Mimi) Rosenkrance of Mackay, Sheldon (Janie) Rosenkrance of Estes Park Colorado, Lance (Rebecca) Rosenkrance of Augusta Montana, and Layne (Annie) Rosenkrance of Boise, Idaho, and one daughter Shawna (Craig) Burtenshaw of Mackay.  Doug is also survived by 20 special grandchildren and 2 special great granddaughters whom he loved and was very proud of.He was preceded in death by his mother Lola Bradshaw Rosenkrance, his father Francis Rosenkrance, and a brother Joe Rosenkrance.Arrangements are being handled by Anderson Family Funeral Home of Arco.Services to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Mackay High School. A viewing will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Anderson Family Home and one hour prior to the funeral serves. Interment will be in the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery.
