Dorothy V. ClarkOf Des Moines, IowaDorothy (Peterson) Clark, 94, a lifelong resident of Des Moines passed away on March 6, 2017, at Scottish Rite Park. Memorial services will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, on March 14th, 2017 at 2:30 PM, with a celebration of life at the Holiday Inn Downtown following the service. Her cremains will be entombed in the Mausoleum at the Masonic Cemetery.Dorothy Virginia Peterson was born on October 18, 1922, to Emil and Anna Peterson who emigrated from Sweden, and was the youngest of their nine children. She graduated from East High School in 1940, and was honored to be chosen May Queen her senior year. The Clark family, under Dorothy's leadership, gifted monies to the East High School Foundation, and the Mathematics Wing was named in their honor. Following graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for ten years. She married William R. (Bill) Clark on October 12, 1946. Three children were born to their union.Dorothy was a lifelong member and supporter of Union Park United Methodist Church. She was a Life Member of the Daughters of the Nile, member of the DM Pioneer Club, a volunteer at the Assistance League in Palm Springs, California, where she wintered for nearly 30 years. She was an officer of Electronic Engineering Company, a family-owned business, for many years prior to her death.Preceding her in death were her husband of 52 years, William R. Clark; brothers, Bert, Oscar, Evald, Axel, and Ernest; and her sisters Elsie Duffy, Edna Johnson, and Evelyn Dark.She is survived by her children, Bill Clark, Jr. (Linda Ratekin), Sue (Bill) Cronin and Mark (Katie Roth) Clark. She is also survived by six grandchildren: William (Rob) Clark III (Kaleena Lively), Virginia (Jim) Lunderby, Benjamin (Meggan) Cronin, Lydia (Drew) Ahrold, Glenn and Wesley Clark, three step grandchildren Luke, Anne, and Clare Roth, and seven great-grandchildren, Lillian & Griffin Cronin, Joseph, Maggie, & Henry Lunderby, and Nash and Hanna G.
