Dorothy Mae McNeal Blount, 86, of Interlachen, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Health Care Center of Lake City after complications from pneumonia. Dorothy was born on October 15, 1928 in Tampa to the late Willis and Grace [Taylor] McNeal. In 1946 she married Dewey Blount and they moved to Sarasota, Florida where she worked in electronics. They moved to Lake City, Florida in 1956 and Dorothy was a stay at home mother and Sunday School Teacher who dedicated her time to her children and grandchildren. The Blounts' retired and moved to Interlachen where they enjoyed RV'ing, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Dorothy & Dewey were married for 65 years and were active church members at the Lake City Church of God and then Bethel Assembly of God in Interlachen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dewey, and her grandson, Chad Howard Spradley. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth (Pete) Welch, Ruth (David) Phillips & Sue (Mike) Nestor; brother, Reverend Jimmy McNeal; sister, Betty Brannon; grandchildren, Terry Milam, Robert Spradley, Kim Morrison, Tesha Brock, Rose Edwards, Betsy Pittinger, and Leandra Casey; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Mike McColley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior (2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.) to service time at the funeral home.
