Dorothy M. (Pratt) Forfa, 95 of Englewood, Florida passed away peacefully November 20, 2016. Dot was born on November 23, 1920 to Ashley and Mary (Cate) Pratt in Stephentown, NY. She was married to the love of her life, Edward Forfa, for 60 years. Dot and Ed made their home in Lee, MA when he came home from serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. They worked hard achieving the American Dream raising their four children there.In 1983 they retired to Englewood, Florida. Dot was predeceased by her husband Ed in 2001. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Englewood FL. She enjoyed bowling on leagues in her younger days with her husband. Dot loved playing golf with her many golfing buddies, following her New England sports teams, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Dot was an avid Bingo player managing multiple cards with time to spare to check cards of others. She also enjoyed playing the slots at the casinos. She was a treasure and loved being surrounded by the many children calling her "Grammy" and "Grandma".Dot is survived by her three sons; Edward Forfa and wife Lorraine, Terry Forfa and wife Shari, Dennis Forfa, and her daughter Janet Streeter and husband Lincoln. She leaves 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and she always remembered to send their birthday cards. Born the oldest of 12, Dot leaves behind her sisters Arabella Masse, Regina Hanson, Shirley Watson and husband Clarence, Eloise Dunton and husband Arthur, brother Larry Pratt and wife Patricia, along with her sisters-in- law Joan Pratt, Nadine Forfa, Marion Forfa, and Frances Forfa. She will also be missed by her many dear nieces, nephews and dear friends. Dot and her family were grateful for the special caregivers from Homewatch CareGivers.SERVICES: Visitation will be held on Dot's 96th birthday Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice Florida.A Memorial service to celebrate Dot's life will be held at a future date in Lee, MA.In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to in remembrance of Dorothy Forfa.The funeral home's guest book will be found at lemonbayfh.com
