Dorothy L. Squires ShewNaples, FLDorothy Lane Squires Shew, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Arbor Glen, Naples, FL, and she is now dancing with the Lord. Dorothy moved from Albuquerque, NM, to Naples in 2005 to be near family. She was born on December 30, 1919, in a farmhouse in Boone County, MO, the youngest daughter of Shannon Clay and Mamie (Wilhite) Lane. Dorothy married and buried three husbands: Carl Standefer Squires, Centralia, MO, Denver, CO, Albuquerque, NM (1937-1972), Earl Cailteux, Albuquerque (1975-1981) and Lemmie Boston Shew, a Pearl Harbor survivor, Albuquerque (1983-1991). Dorothy was an amazing lady with an upbeat smile who lived life on her own terms until nearly the end. Things she loved: music (especially her favorite song, Blue Spanish Eyes), dancing, playing bridge, lobster, chicken wings and champagne. She was an avid reader, an accomplished quilter and created stunning needlepoint projects. She was very involved with her church wherever she lived, she was nice to everyone she met, she worked as a cashier in the men's clothing business for a number of years, and Hawaii was her favorite place to visit. Dorothy is survived by daughter, Connie (Jack) Kindsvater of Naples, FL; son, Dr. Richard L. (Janet Diskin) Squires of Santa Clarita, CA; grandchildren, Kristin (Kindsvater) Prine, John Kindsvater, Katherine (Squires) Solomon and Caroline Squires; great-granddaughters Stella Prine and Kaylin Solomon, cousin Dell Cunningham, nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.Dorothy's Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Top of the Pointe at Arbor Trace, 1001 Arbor Lake Drive, Naples, FL.
