Dorothy E. KowalskiLansing Age 94, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017. Dorothy was born on October 26, 1922 in Burton, MI, the daughter of Harry and Lauretta (Sibilsky) Arnesen. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Edmund Kowalski; brother, Robert Arnesen and sister, Evelyn Helman. Surviving are her son, Raymond (Sharon) Kowalski; granddaughters, Kim (Robert) Kowalski-Luening and Kathy (Todd) Ness; 5 great grandchildren, Daniel (Jamie) Knapp, Anthony (Suzanne) Knapp, Joshua (Kelly) Knapp, Sam Ness, and Laura Ness; step great grandchildren, Shawna Luening and Bobby Luening, and 6 great great grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends.Dorothy was known for her artistic talents, from her floral arranging, crocheting, sewing as well as arts and crafts. In her later years, she especially liked adult coloring and playing bingo. She took pride in her cooking, making dinners for her family as well as large dinners for the community at the Polish Home. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy held many outside responsibilities. She was former president of the White Eagles 42, member of the Federated Polish Hall, former officer of Pilot Club, president of the Metropolitan Club, member of the Ingham County Rose Society, commissioner of the Lansing Parks and Recreation and charter member of the Lansing Zoo Society. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 12, 11:30 a.m., at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with Stephen Ezop officiating. Entombment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Special thanks to the staff at Maplewood Adult Foster Care, who showed Dorothy much love and care, as well as the comfort care team of Great Lakes Hospice.
