Atkinson, Dorothy Boos Dorothy Boos Atkinson, 97, of Mesa, Arizona passed away peacefully on July 8, 2017 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. She was born on January 26, 1920 in Bendina, Kansas to Albert and Adelia Boos and lived most of her early adult life in St. Joseph, Missouri. At age 25 she married Edward C. Atkinson, a widower, and instantly became the mother of Mary Ann and Charles, ages seven and three, respectively. She lovingly accepted her role as wife and mother as she and Ed began their life of 38 years together. Following Ed's retirement in the late 60's they relocated to Mesa to enjoy the weather and be close to Mary Ann who was teaching school. They enjoyed the Arizona lifestyle while meeting old friends from St. Joe and making new ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed, her sister Barbara and brother A.J. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Larry) and Charlie (Jan), two grandchildren, Heathyr and Blake (Kim), four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Nick, Kaycee and Charlie all of Arizona, her sister Susie Evans of St. Joseph and several nieces and nephews.
