AUGUST 3, 1933 - NOVEMBER 23, 2016Donna Lou Phares (née Weakland) died peacefully surrounded by her family on 23rd of November 2016 in Spring Branch, TX at the age of 83.Donna is survived by her children, Mervin Leppo Jr. and wife Janet of Spring Branch, TX, Melinda (Mindy) Leppo of Spring Branch, TX, and Celinda (Cyndi) wife of Ron VanDyke of San Antonio, TX; her siblings Shirley Lottes, and Barbara Moore; her 9 grandchildren (Cyndi's) JR Haseloff and wife Andrea, Camille wife of Mike Morales, Cheslea Cypert, and Casey Cypert, (Mindy's) Tiffany Friesenhahn, Terina Friesenhahn, and Trison Leppo, and (Mervin's) Bonnie Blackburn and Logan Leppo; and her 9 great grandchildren Jackson, Connor, Chandler, Chase, Camryn, Henry, Elizabeth, Noah and Salara. She is preceded in death by her parents; her spouse Jessie Phares; former spouse Mervin Leppo Sr.; and her sibling Melvin Weakland.Donna was born on August 3, 1933 in Saltsburg, PA to parents Charles and Mabel Weakland. Donna lovingly raised three children with former spouse Mervin S. Leppo. As a military family, they lived in Okinawa, Japan, York New Salem, Pennsylvania, San Antonio, Texas, and Pensacola, Florida. She was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers and a constant member of the The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After raising her children Donna completed her High School Equivalency at the age of 50 in 1983.Her children remember her as a kind and caring mother who supported them in every way she could. Donna loved playing games with the family, and spent her last year's regularly socializing at the Bulverde Spring Branch Activity Center. In life, she was a generous individual with a sharp wit. A devoted mother and wife, she would substitute at her children's school and volunteer in senior care centers. She was a member of the Catholic Church and embodied the giving spirit of Christmas.At the family's request, no services will be held.
