Donald Russell StraileOctober 31, 2017Donald Russell Straile passed away October 31, 2017 after a battle with congestive heart failure. He is survived by his loving daughter, Paula Straile-Costa and her husband Amarildo Costa, his devoted brother, William E. Straile, his beloved significant other of eleven years, Joyce Sanderson, and many other dear family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 49 years, Carolyn L. Straile, his sister Genevieve S. Gorski, and his parents William and Mildred Straile, as well as an infant daughter. Donald was born on February 23, 1932 and raised in Beaver, Pa. He graduated from Beaver High School in 1950 and received his Degree in Dentistry from the University of Pittsburgh in 1956. He married Carolyn July 7, 1956 in Brownsville, PA. He joined the Air Force and served in Tokyo, Japan where he lived with his wife practicing dentistry until he was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in October of 1958. Donald moved back to Beaver where he had a successful practice for 40 years. He retired to Fort Myers, Florida and lived in Six Lakes Country Club where he made many wonderful friends. He was a tremendous, affectionate father, husband and friend to many. He was a vibrant person of great faith, character and kindness. Many will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his generous, out-going and fun-loving spirit. He loved and played sports all his life: in his younger years baseball, football and basketball and later in life he became an avid skier and golfer. Donald appreciated art and was a talented painter, drawer, wood carver, jewelry maker, and gardener among other things. He was a deacon and active member of both the Beaver First Presbyterian and New Hope Churches.A funeral service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, November 16, 2017 at 2pm, 10051 Plantation Road, Fort Myers 33966.
