Donald RedlingerDonald Raymond Redlinger was called home to the Lord and to his wife Rosemary on March 3rd, 2016.Donald was born on October 27th, 1926 to Robert Clement Redlinger and Mary Jane Redlinger (nee Vermeire) at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was the youngest of five children: Robert Michael Redlinger, Marie Watts, Betty Terry, and Grace Redlinger. He attended St. John's High School in Portland. At age 17, before leaving for the Army, he met his future wife while attending church. They remained in touch while he was fighting with the 11th Airborne Division in WWII and while she attended college in Seattle. They married on May 28th, 1955, after his return from the war in Korea.Donald and Rosemary were married for more than 47 years and loved each other deeply. In their time together, they raised six children and had many wonderful adventures. They enjoyed traveling up and down the West Coast from Alaska to Southern California to spend time with their family. Don and Rosemary's favorite spot to visit was Seaside, Oregon where they would spend time together on the beach. In addition to serving in the U.S. Army, Donald was head of security for Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, WA during the 1960s. In the 1970s, he worked for Alyeska Pipeline Corporation during the building of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. He retired from the State of Alaska while working as a correctional officer in Ketchikan.Don enjoyed fly fishing, good whiskey and cigars, and spending time with his grandchildren and with dogs Yogi, Boo, and Nikea.Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary, his sisters Grace and Marie, his brother Robert, and his son Mark. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Robert and Kathie Redlinger, Joan Johnson, Jim and Stacy Redlinger, Susan and Randy Morrissette, and Linda and Harvey Thurber, his ten grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way). A viewing will be held on Thursday March 10th from 10am-5pm and and Friday March 11th from 10am-11am at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home. His funeral will be held at St. James Catholic Church at 1pm on March 11th, with a short reception being held at the church after mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to in Don and Rosemary's names.
