Donald R. Moore, also known as "Pappy" to his family and friends, passed away at the age of 94, on Saturday, November 19, 2016. He was born on December 12, 1921 in Fairview, MT., the third born out of seven children. When his mother passed away at an early age, Don provided for the family and took care of his siblings. In 1942, at the beginning of the Pacific War, he was inducted into the Army at the age of 21. The war took him to the Solomon Islands at Guadalcanal, the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines, and the Japanese mainland. Upon his return from the war, he began working for the State of California Treasury Department. He retired from public service as the Assistant State Treasurer, after a 40 year career. Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Moore and his daughter Sharolette Van Voorhees. Survived by his grandchildren Michael & Debbie Van Voorhees, Jill & Steve Limonoff, and Ron Van Voorhees, great grandchildren Danielle, Brennen, and Nick. Family requests donations be made to in lieu of flowers. Memorial service is pending.
