ALBION — Donald M. McBride Jr., 58, of rural Albion died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 12:17 a.m. at his residence near Albion. Mr. McBride had been in declining health for the past four years. He was born on December 9, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Donald M. McBride and Betty Jane (Woods) McBride. On December 1, 1973, also in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he married Marchelle A. (White) McBride. She survives in Albion. Mr. McBride was employed for several years as a maintenance technician at Busche Enterprises in Albion. Don was known as a "Jack of all trades" at work and at home and he was known to be a dedicated and loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. He use to golf and play pool. He loved playing with his grandchildren and loved the Chicago Bears. Surviving along with his wife are a son, Jason A. McBride and his fiance, Shelli A. Porter, of Albion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angel and Gunn Hoon of Albion and Shelbee and David Smolek of Columbia City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Alissa Hoon, Michael Hoon, Kristi Hoon, Gunn Hoon Jr., Justin Pearson, Kadie Smolek, Abby Smolek, David Smolek Jr. and Jason A. McBride Jr.; two great-grandchilren, Trinity A. McClellan and Carson E. Hoon; and a sister, Debra Faurote of Fort Wayne. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Alexander McBride, and a nephew, Christopher G. Davis. Per Mr. McBride's wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial services will be on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Bret Frymier of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate the memorial service. There will be memorial visitation one half hour prior to the memorial service.
