Donald Dewayne Lathrop, Sr.October 13, 1944 -December 6, 2016Donald "Don" Dewayne Lathrop, Sr., 72, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. A Viewing/Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, 1:00PM, at Baird Memorial Chapel, located at 16468 Finley Butte Rd in La Pine. Don was born on October 13, 1944, in Pateros, Washington to Charles and Bessie (Cole) Lathrop. After his High School graduation he served in the Army National Guard. In 1966 he married Judy Holloway, and they were blessed with two sons. Don worked as a Silicon Furnace Operator for over 20 years, and then retired in 2001. Judy passed away that same year. A couple of years later on October 18, 2003, he married Susan "Sue" Herold in Springfield, Oregon. Don had been active in the Oregon Trail Council of Boy Scouts of America (BSA) since 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and scouting with BSA. He was a very talented woodworker; made furniture, clocks, etc. He was also a member of the Moose. Don is survived by his wife Sue; sons "Will" (wife Kris) and Donald "Donnie" Jr; step-sons Ryan, Eric and Andrew; four brothers Bob (wife Joyce), Dale (wife Lily), Ralph (wife Miriam), John (wife Sylvia); two sisters Bette and Debbie; two grandchildren Thomas Jr and Mason; and three great-grandchildren Heidi, Hunter, and Hayley. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy; one brother Bud; and one sister Liz.
