Dirk CooperSmithfield - Our special son, brother and friend Dirk Jeff Cooper, 35, passed away peacefully at his home in Smithfield, with his family by his side on December 5, 2014. Dirk was born on July 9, 1979, when he met his loving parents, Jeff and Lora Cooper. His entire life was filled with difficult challenges, but his strength and endurance always allowed him to overcome them. During his time on Earth, Dirk made many friends, all of whom have fond memories of him. The most popular memory shared by many was that of his stuffed caterpillar. He always took his toy with him as if it were his favorite companion. Our special son had a love for music, car rides and ice cream. Prior to his diagnosis with leukemia, Dirk was attending Cache Employment & Training Center and loved his staff and friends there dearly. Dirk is survived by his parents, Jeff & Lora, sister Ashlee (Mark Holguin), one niece (Anabelle) one nephew (AJ), 2 grandmothers (Dalline Cooper, Janice Rees) and 1 grandfather (Don Anderson). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Cache Employment & Training Center Christmas Gift Program. Our family would also like to express our most sincere appreciation to the staff at Logan Regional Hospital, LDS Hospital Oncology Unit, Access Home Care & Hospice, especially Dianne & Devin. and the Relief Society for their love, generosity and support during this difficult time. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home in Logan, Utah 162 E. 400 North from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, with graveside services immediately following at 1 p.m. in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
