Mr. Dennis Thomas Murrin, Jr., 74 of Starke, Fl passed away on October 23, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. Dennis was born on September 29, 1937 in Savannah, GA to Dennis Thomas Murrin, Sr. and Winnifred Todd Murrin. After growing up in Miami, Fl he joined the U.S. Navy which led him to Jacksonville, where he resided for many years following his military service. He worked for the Glidden Company while earning a degree in Chemistry from Jacksonville University, and then experienced a rewarding career of over 30 years with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. His love of the outdoors and desire for country living inspired him to move to the Lake City and Starke area where he spent the last several years, while also becoming an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Dennis will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, friends, and the environment, along with a true caring nature toward his beloved dogs and horses. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Florence Murrin, his daughter, Denese Murrin, his son, Jordan Murrin, one grandson, Skye Murrin and two granddaughters, Michelle Murrin and Moriah Murrin. Additional survivors include two stepsons, Ronald (Keri) Johnson, Glen (Sandra) Johnson, five step grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Amanda Burcham and Amy Hinkson and four step great grandchildren, Allison Johnson, Micah Johnson, Justin Burcham and Daniel Burcham. Funeral services for Mr. Murrin will be conducted on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lake City. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Dennis Murrin to Haven Hospice, 4305 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, Fl 32606.
