David PipeApril 29, 1958 - January 21, 2017David Lloyd Pipe, age 58, of Grand Junction, died on January 21, 2017, with his wife, Claudia, at his side. Dave was known for his generous heart, great sense of humor, playfulness and deep commitment to his family. He was an explorer in many respects; music, the outdoors, knowledge, new people and new lands. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him.Dave was born on April 29, 1958, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the son of John Pipe and Virginia Proctor.After attending first, Eastern University then Mesa State College, Dave graduated with a degree in Human Services. Shortly thereafter, he discovered an affinity and interest in information technology that resulted in a decades long career, ending as a database manager and web master for Bio-Rad Laboratories. He was exceptionally good at his work and was admired, respected and enjoyed by all of his colleagues.He developed his great love for Claudia McClintock through engaging in their common interests of music, biking, the outdoors and strengthening community. They joined forces to guide and delight in the lives of a blended family of six children, marrying in 2015.Dave is survived by his wife, Claudia Faye McClintock of Grand Junction; his daughters, Natalie Elaine Pipe and Carmen Sophia Pipe and their mother, Jacque Pipe of Grand Junction; step-children, Baylee McClintock Gregor and husband, Ryan of Edwards, CO; Logan McClintock Ragar of Fort Collins, CO; Dillon McClintock Ragar, of Boulder, CO, and Madison McClintock Ragar, of Grand Junction. He is also survived by his father, John Pipe and step-mother, Carol Willard of Denver, CO; brothers, Tim Pipe of Smithville, TX and Mike Pipe of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Gwyn Harrigan and husband, Randy and daughter, Autumn Davis of Castle Rock, CO. Surviving also are his in-laws, Annmarie and Bob Heckman of Wooster, OH; Michael and Robyn McClintock of Wooster, OH; Debora and Nevin Summers of Anchorage, AK; Merkle Muller of Harpswell, ME, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Proctor.A celebration and remembrance gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Courtyard Marriott, Grand Junction, CO.Special thanks for the kindness and support from our family, new and old friends and the compassionate and dedicated providers who cared for Dave.Memorial contributions may be made to the following organizations: International Rescue Committee (
