D.D. "West" WestreUrbandaleDarvis died peacefully on March 19, 2017 at Urbandale Health and Rehab Center. Cremation has taken place, and inurnment will take place at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.Darvis was born on December 3, 1931 to George and LaVonne Westre in Sioux City, IA. He was raised in Hawarden, and later returned to Sioux City where he attended Central High. While working in Sioux City, he met Marilyn Lindstrom and they were married on October 31, 1954. He served in the U.S.
Army from 1955-1957 as a member of the planning board in Fort Stewart, Georgia. For many years, he was employed as a heavy equipment salesman (Caterpillar, John Deere and semi-trailers) for Gibbs-Cook. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge No. 508 A.F. & A.M. in Sioux City and ZaGaZig Shrine in Des Moines.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; children, Debra (Mark) Campbell of Ames, IA, Barbara (Jerry) Rollings of Fountain Hills, AZ, Scott (Margaret) Westre of Hastings, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas Rollings, Zachary Rollings, Samuel Westre, Jordan (Scott) Dierickx, Hannah Westre; great-granddaughter, Reagan Rollings; siblings, Bill (Gerry) Peters of Westmont, IL, and Donna Anagnostou of Livonia, MI.He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Darwin; parents; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.Family has always been important, and Darvis lived his life as a loving husband, dad, grandfather, Brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
