After a 40-year struggle with mental illness, Dan spent his final months in the loving care of Rivers Bend Rehab. The family would like to thank Rivers Bend for opening their hearts to Dan and welcoming him with kindness and caring, with a special thank you to Kate Kahles, executive director at Rivers Bend, who helped create a better life for Dan through her compassion and caring. The evening before Dan passed away, he wrote this stanza in his music notebook:"There's a road that takes you to glory,Through a valley not far away;Nobody here can go there for you,They can only point the way."
