CHURUBUSCO — Cynthia A. Flaherty, 77, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion. She had been a patient there for the past 16 months. Ms. Flaherty was born on June 13, 1937, in Sheridan, Wyoming, a daughter of Edward H. and Margaret (Jacobson) Mason. She spent her formative years in the western part of the United States, where she graduated from high school and attended college. She had lived in Churubusco since 1963, except for a short period when she lived in Indianapolis. Employed in the offices of Dana Corporation, she retired from the Churubusco plant in 2002. In her leisure time, she enjoyed a variety of craft projects, tending her flower gardens, and especially enjoyed her cat. The surviving relatives include her two children, Denise (Larry) Murphy of Churubusco and Richard J. "Rick" (Pat) Flaherty of LaOtto; two brothers, Donald (Jeanine) Mason of Colorado Springs and Kenneth Mason of Ft. Collins, Colorado; her six grandchildren, Trisha Murphy, Tabbitha Murphy, Tiffany Murphy, Stephanie (Beau) Adair, Joey ("Sam") Williams, and Jarrod Flaherty; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. At the request of the family there will be no funeral service or calling hours. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.
