Craig T. DigilioNew Paltz - New Paltz, NY- Craig T. Digilio, 67, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 17 surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.Craig was born on October 18, 1949 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Frank T. and Kathleen Taylor Digilio. Craig was predeceased by his father in 1980, and by his mother in 2016.Craig is survived by his loving wife, Georgette, and their son, Taylor, of New Paltz; and also by his sister Lynn Berkley of Poughkeepsie, her husband Dennis, and their two sons, Stephen and Ryan. He is also survived by his mother in law, Odette Verdier of New Paltz and the members of the Rigano and Hutter families.Craig graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1967, received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1971, and then went on to receive his Juris Doctor Degree from Albany Law School in 1974. He worked at Van Dewater & Van Dewater Law Firm in Poughkeepsie, NY from 1974 until 2000, and then became a partner at Feldman Jacobson Abstract Corp from 2000 until 2015 when he retired.Craig loved sports. He was the captain of the 1967 Poughkeepsie High School baseball team, earning All-Dutchess County Scholastic League honors for winning the league's batting title. He played freshman baseball at Notre Dame, hit over .300 in each of his four seasons in the Poughkeepsie Twilight League (1967-70) and was named the 1973 Hudson Valley Rookie League's Most Valuable Player as a member of the Poughkeepsie Lasers. In addition to playing, Craig also coached several sports in Poughkeepsie including: Pop Warner Football, CYO Basketball, Senior League Baseball and Poughkeepsie High School Varsity Baseball. He also coached many years in the New Paltz Baseball Association. He was loved by his players for his sense of humor and fairness to all. Craig also served as the president of Poughkeepsie Little League and was a member of the Dutchess County Baseball Hall of Fame. Craig was a tremendous fan of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. In addition to his love of sports, Craig enjoyed American history as well as bible studies. He was a lector at Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie and served on the Parish Council for several years.Craig had many friends he came to love over the years. All who knew him cherished him for his wit, wisdom, loyalty and charm. He always kept in close touch with his high school buddies and college comrades. They enriched his life and helped to make his last few months happier.The calling hours will be held on Monday, May 22nd from 4-8PM at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY 12561. And there will be a mass of Christian burial on May 23rd at 10AM at St. Joseph's Church, 34 S Chestnut Street, New Paltz, NY 12561.
