Amacher, age 84, of Kissimmee, FL (formerly of Wisconsin Rapids), passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospice in Kissimmee, FL.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will take place at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net.Conrad was born on August 1, 1932 in Wausau, WI to Bert and Virginia (Conrad) Amacher. He graduated from Medford High School in 1951. Conrad honorably served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. He married Carol Chapell on June 30, 1962 and was blessed with 54 years of marriage.He began his career as a newspaper reporter and moved with his family to Wisconsin Rapids in 1966 to work for Consolidated Papers, Inc as a Communications Manager. Conrad was instrumental in developing the weekly NewsChips newsletter and yearly employee meetings. He was also frequently seen in the mills taking pictures and interviewing employees set to begin their retirement. Conrad retired from Consolidated in 1992 after 26 years of service. He spent the next 25 years as a Florida Snowbird in central Florida.Conrad was an avid walker, biker, bird watcher, and photographer. He also enjoyed camping with his family and discovering God's creation. He had a strong faith and served God at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids; Woodlands Lutheran Church in Clermont, FL; and Christ Lutheran Church in Brooksville, FL. He valued the relationships he made at each of these places and treasured the memories from his time at each of these locations.Conrad is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Gail; and son, Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Amacher and Virginia Conrad."Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
