Connie Fay Summers, 74, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Robert V. Summers, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Residence at South Windsor Farms, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 21, 1942 in Marion, NC. Connie grew up in Marion, NC and later lived in Charlotte, NC, where she attended college. She was married to the love of her life, Robert Summers in 1963 and they settled in South Windsor, CT in 1972. She worked for Southern Engineering and in 1981 helped her family start and operate Hoosier Tire East Inc. Connie was an amazing shag dancer and enjoyed reading, playing cards and venturing to the casino to play the slots especially "Top Dollar". A kind, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed. Along with her husband of over 53 years, Robert, she leaves her son, Robert Summers JR and her grandson Mason of Ellington; her sisters, Betty Sumlin of Marion, NC and Judy Summers and her husband John of Indianapolis, IN; and her step-daughter, Elaine Stetler and her husband Steve of Dayton, OH. Connie also will be missed by her close friends especially by Barbara Forschino and Ellisa Kiessling who were a great comfort to Connie and always made her smile. She was predeceased by her mother, Hattie (Edwards) Sprous; her daughter, Pamela Renee Summers and her brother, George Dennis Sprous. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
