Claudia "DeeDee" Smith grew up in BedStuy, Brooklyn along with her 8 other siblings. She was an excellent student and friend and this motivated her to become an elementary schoolteacher. She worked at various schools and had two children, Diane and Derek Williams. She is survived by her two children and her four grandchildren.
