Christine Peeler Miller, 89, of Midland, formerly of Charlotte, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Waxhaw. She was born on Nov. 27, 1927 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Mary Rose Briggs Peeler and Claude Davis Peeler. She graduated from Mt. Ulla High School. She married G.C. Pop Miller on Oct. 16, 1946. They were the co-owners of Miller True Value Hardware in the Hickory Grove area of Charlotte. Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 2004. Survivors include sons, Larry Miller (Kathy) and Scott Miller (Lynda) of Midland and daughter, Kristy Eddleman (Ed) of Charlotte; sister, Lib McKinney; brother, Leo Peeler; as well as her much loved seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Chris was known for her ready smile and welcoming kindness. She will be remembered for her love for others and her legacy of service. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Midland and of the Order of the Eastern Star, Newell Chapter 344. She loved dancing and was an enthusiastic participant in the Hickory Grove Groovy Grovers Square Dance Group. She also participated in the Hickory Grove Music Makers. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107. The family would like to thank Courtney and the staff at White Oak Manor Nursing Home for the loving care and devotion they provided. Arrangements: A Memorial Service celebrating Chris' life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at Bethel United Methodist Church of Midland, 12700 Idlebrook Road. The family will receive friends immediately following.
