Charlotte JohnstonA bright shining light has been dimmed in the passing of Charlotte Ann Tubbs Johnston of Downsville, LA on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016. Charlotte was a valiant cancer survivor, but her hardest fought battle was with dementia.Charlotte was born on April 23, 1947 to Troy and Dorothy Tubbs of the Conway Community. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and daughter and her family was her proudest accomplishment. This was evident in the past nine days when her family constantly held vigil by her bedside.Visitation will be 5-8pm on November 3, 2016 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Services will be 10am November 4 at Conway Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Canterberry and Bro. Terry Campanale officiating. Burial to follow at Holmesville Cemetery. Services will be provided by Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA.Left to mourn her loss are her husband of 46 years, John "Van" Johnston, Sr., children: Shannon Johnston Barkley and husband Kevin, John Van Johnston, Jr., Allison Johnston Isaac and husband Barry all of Downsville, and James Lee "Jay" Johnston of Balcomville, LA; grandchildren: Ashley Bailey and wife Heather, Devin Barkley, Dawson Barkley, John Van "Trey" Johnston, III and fiancé Stormi Campbell, Lance Isaac and significant other Tiffiny Greer, and AnnaBelle Isaac all of Downsville, Destiny Johnston of Simsboro, Cloie and Camden Johnston of Balcomville, Olivia Chapman of Rocky Branch and Chelsea Barkley of West Monroe; great grandchildren: Sarah and Emmalyn Bailey, Lakyn "Tater" Johnston and Tripp Jones; Mother, Mrs. Dorothy Shadic Tubbs of Farmerville Nursing and Rehab, sisters: Judy Tubbs Cole and husband Dickey, Shirley Rowell and Kathy Tubbs Simpson and husband Kenny all of Conway. She was preceded in death by her father Troy Lee Tubbs and son-in-law Wayne Bailey.Charlotte had a gift of gab and never met a stranger. She loved reading, working in her yard and her flowers, writing poetry, sketching pictures. Charlotte was a longtime member of Conway Baptist Church and she had a beautiful voice.Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Rowell, Shawn Simpson, Rayce Powell, Sam Hughes, Tom Canterberry and Stan Bridges.
